SEM’s goal is to play an active role in the development of Gabon’s mining sector while contributing through its activities to better geological knowledge and the promotion of investment opportunities in this strategic sector.
Elvis Ossindji
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Elvis OSSINDJI has been the CEO & Director of Gabon Mining Company since August 2021. He previously served as Energy Advisor of the Head of State His Excellence Ali Bongo Ondimba.

He is a key member of the Board of Directors of Comilog, Eramet Group. Prior to joining Gabon Mining Company, Elvis held senior positions in a number of publicly traded companies, including five years with the Gabonese Sovereign Wealth Fund, where he served as project manager of the energy platform in an effort to transform the structure of the Gabonese economy and secure a solid savings base for the Gabonese future generations.

Elvis is the founder of the NGO Nzila Leaders, which aims to move communities in Gabon closer to the 17 Sustainable Development goals by 2030.
Richard Alain ABESSOLO
Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Richard Alain ABESSOLO joined the SEM as Deputy General Manager by decree of the Council of Ministers dated February 19, 2021.
Mr. Richard Alain ABESSOLO has a degree in Finance and Accounting from the Institut National des Sciences de Gestion (INSG). He did most of his studies in Libreville. He has a rich experience in finance that he acquired in state-owned companies such as the Gabonese Shippers' Council with which he acquired an expertise in the administration of financial and state services.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Ulrich Noël ESSAMEDOU AZUI joined the SEM as Administrative and Financial Director by decree of the Council of Ministers dated February 19, 2021.
Mr. Ulrich Noël ESSAMEDOU AZUI is a financial engineer with more than 10 years of experience in the fields of finance, audit and control. With his personal experiences on the one hand and those mainly acquired within the Gabonese subsidiaries of the Groups Attijari Wafa Bank, Ecobank on the other hand, Mr. ESSAMEDOU is willing to take up the challenges that have just been entrusted to him in this sector of mines until now unknown.
Exploration Director
Mr. Boumi MAFANA joined SEM as Senior Geologist in April 2013.
Boumi MAFANA is one of the pioneers of SEM and has a great experience acquired in the mining services in Gabon and internationally, in particular with Comilog and VALE Exploration Afrique in DRC.
Boumi is an expert engineer in techniques, economics and management of the mining company, graduated from the Ecole des Mines de Nancy (France).
Wenceslas EDZANG MVE
Chief Human Resources Officer
Mr. Wenceslas Dancy EDZANG MVE joined SEM in November 2019 as Human Resources Manager
he was later promoted to Director of Human Resources, Communication & Technology.
He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration, specialized in Human Resources obtained at the African Institute of Management (Senegal). He has more than 15 years of experience in Human Resources and administration within groups such as Celtel/Zain/Airtel, Ecobank and BGFI and then in the oil industry before joining our team.
Chief Operating Officer
Wesbert Moussounda Ngoumba joined the Faculty of Law and Economics of Omar Bongo University in 2003 before joining the University Institute of Management in Bamako in 2004 where he obtained the university degree of Technology Option Finance Accounting. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Financial Science and Technology (LSTCF) obtained in 2007 and followed by a Master's in Accounting and Financial Science and Technology with Finance Finance option.

In 2008, he began his professional career in the mining industry in the Bamako (Mali) office of the Canadian Avion Gold Corporation in the finance department. In 2010, he joined another Canadian group operating in Mali: IAMGold Corporation. He will initially be a project manager on exploration activities before becoming deputy of the chief financial officer, in charge of management control. He will conduct audit engagements within the group, in Senegal and in Canada.

In 2012, Wesbert MOUSSOUNDA is appointed responsible for payroll for the Group's entities in Mali and Senegal. Then, in January 2013, he joined the Comptoir Gabonais de Collecte de l'Or, a subsidiary wholly owned by SEM, as Director of Operations.
Sandra CHEYI
Legal and Tax Director
Ms. Sandra Satisse CHEYI joined SEM as Legal Director in October 2020.

She has a degree in Natural Resources Law and Arbitration from the University of Paris Nanterre, a degree in Legal and Tax Management and a post-graduate degree in Public Law. She studied in Dakar, Senegal. She has a rich experience in mining law thanks to her previous positions. She has been in turn Director of the Mining Registry and Economic Affairs, Head of Studies of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Oil, Gas and Mines and Head of the Economic, Legal and Fiscal Affairs Department at the Directorate of Economics and Mining Property.



  • Gabon Mining Corporation is incorporated by registration of its Articles of Incorporation pursuant to the Gabon Business Corporations Act under the name “Société Equatoriale des Mines.”

  • Gabon Mining Corporation commences commercial production The company, through its 39% ownership of North Atlantic Natural Resources, discovers the Storliden deposit in northern Sweden.

  • In 2013 as part of the development of the gold sector, the SEM created its first 100% subsidiary named the Contoir Gabonais de Collecte de l'Or (CGCO) which will have as its main objective the reorganization of Small-Scale Artisanal Mining (ASGM);

  • The CGCO collects 47 kilograms of gold at the end of 2013 and starts its marketing at the national level (it signs a partnership with the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations to market part of its production locally.)


  • 4 gold permits including 3 in operation and 1 in exploration.

  • Acquire long-life expandable copper-gold Chapada Mine in Brazil

  • Mine first ore from Eagle East ahead of schedule and under budget

  • Candelaria mine fleet reinvestment complete and deliver first ore from South Sector underground mine.

  • Strengthening of the State's participation in the mining company.

  • Diversification of SEM's permit portfolio in Barythine and the quarry sector.

  • SEM signs new partnerships.


  • FGIS enter joint venture agreement to develop the collection and processing of gold by setting up a foundry.

  • SEM signs with a refinery in Portugal (Albinô montinô refundry) which bought part of our production.

  • Consolidation of artisanal gold activities.

  • Signature of strategic partnerships with CDC.

  • Gold is declared a strategic substance by the President of the Republic and the SEM therefore directs its investments in gold.
